I rise to speak on the advisory report on the Telecommunications Amendment (Enhancing Community Consultation) Bill 2011 by the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Infrastructure and Communications.
I was delighted when the independent member for Denison, Mr Wilkie, proposed this bill because, for many years, I have shared the concerns of the community as to the way that the telcos put infrastructure into our community without having to answer to the community for what they are doing.

Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament

Firstly, I would like to thank the Prime Minister for introducing this very serious and important motion. I strongly support the motion that this House affirms its support for the goal of a nuclear-weapon-free world, and its support for the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
I also take this opportunity to make a few remarks about Australia's relationship with nonproliferation efforts and, in the context of this motion, to discuss the important work that the International Committee of the Red Cross has been doing.

Nominations are now open for the 2012 Ryan Community Service Awards, Federal Member for Ryan Jane Prentice said today.
Mrs Prentice said the Ryan Community Service Awards were an initiative to encourage and acknowledge the excellent and tireless work of individuals and groups in the Ryan community.
